Most of it concerns the economics of sports.  Here is Skip’s blog.  Here is Matt Yglesias on why the Mavericks are better without Steve Nash.

Yglesias’ analysis, while interesting, is inconclusive at best. Dirk is famous for working hard on different facets of his game in the offseason (oftentimes with a former coach in Germany), so it is tough to say that he wouldn’t have developed a post-up game had Nash stayed.

Further, coach Johnson played on a team with two excellent post players (David Robinson and Tim Duncan), a team that had a philosophy of slowing the game down and using post play. It is difficult to say he wouldn’t have used this method even if Nash had remained a Maverick. I think the Mavericks would much rather have Steve Nash then Erick Dampier right now.
