Having defended Summers at length in the brouhaha over his statements about sex and math ability, I’m still waiting to hear his defense of his own conduct in glossing over the corrupt behavior of his best friend, Andrei Shleifer, in Russia, both while Summers was Shleifer’s boss in the Treasury Department and at Harvard.
