65 cents per disc

The complete Bach, 155 discs, the reviews I’ve read are quite positive on the recordings.  I’m ordering my set tonight.  Don’t neglect the English Suite in A minor, or the Cantata "Wachtet auf, ruft uns die Stimme."

What do you think of the Brilliant Classics Complete Mozart set? Reviews tend to be good, but I’m not knowledgeable enough to use them to form a verdict.

Assuming 72 minutes per CD and a bitrate encoding of 192kbps, this will take up a little over half of a 30 gig iPod.

What if you lose just one, Tyler? Have you lost the equivalent
of 65 cents, or much more than that (by breaking up the set)?

Coming soon to a bittorrent site near you!

I never cared much for the recordings on TCB set. It’s nice to have the complete set, but there are far superior renditions of all my favourites.

I had noticed this earlier at Amazon but was afraid of spending $100 on the collection; the perks of being a graduate student. ($45 on Herreweghe’s Matthew’s Passion. on the other hand, is money well spent.)

Tyler, please let us know of what you think of it.

Thanks,
Rushabh

Well, I knew it was weird and couldn’t last : Amazon over here in Continental Europe have upped the price of The Complete Bach overnight from 76 to 89 euros in Germany and 90 euros in France – ie a good 10 dollars higher than in the States…
