It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s Jetman

What we need today is a superhero.  Thus, I give you Jetman.

Fly385_404109pSwiss adventurer Yves Rossy flew from England to France Friday
propelled by a jetpack strapped to his back — the first person to
cross the English Channel in such a way.

Rossy, a pilot who normally flies an Airbus airliner, crossed the 22
miles between Calais and Dover at speeds of up to 120 mph in 13
minutes, his spokesman said.

Across the English Channel?

Maybe under?

If that thing fails and dumps him in the Channel, is he flotsam or jetsam?

It's the 21st century already! September 27, 2008 at 1:01 am

So that’s where my jetpack is.

At first glance I thought this was Tyler post….

Is this really the sort of risk-taking profile that we want to see in a commercial (Airbus) passenger pilot ?

Yes. (Especially if you own Boeing stock. Of course, it might produce the opposite: if that guy can fly with that little thing, he can easily handle a big / real jet.)
