I was impressed with these RC controlled cars that race on walls and even on smooth ceilings.  They were a big hit with the kids too!

those cars are anti-art or at least anti hung art.

It seems that these cars are to kids what fiscal policy is to many macroeconomists. Tyler: I hope you stop posting on PK and BDL. They have nothing new to say about fiscal and monetary policies. Please post your comments on Lucas and David Backus (the former in his article in WSJ and the latter in his letter to Mankiw as posted by GM in his blog); both have new ideas.

The reason that the toys’ internal batteries charge off of batteries in the controller rather than a wall socket is because of convenience. If you’re out using the toy somewhere, and the little car runs out of juice, it’s way more convenient to just plug the car into the controller than to look around for a adapter cord and plug it into the wall. This is especially true if you’re playing with the toy in a room that doesn’t have wall sockets.

Plus, to charge off of wall sockets would require another power cord/adapter, which would make the toy cost more. I think the toy companies want to make their toys as cheap as possible, even if the parents know they are going to have to spend more to make it complete. That’s why “batteries not included” is so common.
