Among those Mr. Geithner has brought on board in a counselor role are Alan Krueger, who is expected to be chosen as assistant secretary for economic policy…
That is from today's WSJ. Krueger is also on the auto task force now.

is there anyone on the “auto task force” that knows anything about making and selling autos?
On his own website, it says “He has published widely on the economics of education, terrorism, labor demand, income distribution, social insurance, labor market regulation and environmental economics.”
Did I miss something about making cars in there?

Must be because of labor market stuff.
Why aren’t they using University of Chicago economists? It seems to me about 1 day after any plan is announced a U of C economist comes out with a piece completely blowing it up on pure economics grounds. They seem to be the only on taking concepts such as incentives and substitutions, etc into account…micro if you will. From disincentives to work to risk aversion by bankers to you name it…Obama’s team seems to neglect how real individuals act in response to policies.
Does anyone think that Krueger will be able to convince the UAW? Give me a break. The U of C economist will recognize insolvency while the auto makes will bleed Obama for all he is worth (us that is).
