Decisive arguments for AND against?
*poof* Everything vanishes in a puff of logic.
(minor spoilers ahead)
The UN could not possibly understand BSG. Leave the FTL-less ships behind? Abandon the colonies? Surrender to Cylon occupation? Sacrifice the Pegasus? Ally with the Cylon rebels? No quick decisions here, let’s form a committee, hold hearings, pass a resolution! Every hard decision that Adama, Roslin, or even Baltar has had to make, the UN is systematically incapable of.
“Not to mention that the show regularly presents the military as a decisive and positive leader when the civilian debating club on Colonial One is naive, corrupt, and ineffectual.”
To some extent, although it has been made pretty clear that Adama is beginning to lose his grip on making the appropriate call (see: all of season 4). The Quorum was never shown as being more corrupt than a standard OECD parliament or congress.
Is this UN’s attempt to stay relevant in the world dominated by entertainment? Or an attempt by younger staffers to stay awake?
I’m so glad that my government coerced tax dollars are being used to support the UN in this oh so important endeavor.

BSG frackin rules! Seriously.
I didn’t know there was only one show left
