Timothy Geithner: a study in facial micro-expressions

Geithner-main-large

Here is the source article.  Here is an interesting article about judging creditworthiness by a person's looks.  How different would the politics be if Geithner looked like Scarlett Johansson?  Would that make the case against bank nationalization more persuasive?

Here is a sample of pictures.  This, I think, is the least nervous-looking one.

I’ve never seen a guy who looks so constipated so often. I judge his credit worthiness more by his
failure to properly file and remit the tax liabilities he knew existed.

I suspect most would look nervous if their career consisted of esentially writing ~18 month puts on US economic growth.

I think we can all tell pretty accurately when someone feels s/he is out of his/her depth.

Maybe we should hire Scarlett to be Treasury’s front woman?

Geithner’s earnest nerdiness and seeming lack of guile is an asset in the present environment, it helps people feel that we’re not being taken for a ride.

Although, you know, we probably are.

Wow Geithner looks like Mr. Spock with a tricorder up his Vulcan butt.*

* Incredibly geeky, it’s true, but he really does.

But I do think (S)he would have an easier job convincing, if you cut the resume by 90% aka palin effect.

Did you say something Tyler? I was distracted by the Scarlett Johansson picture.

For this administration, perhaps they should document visually the “greying” of the Treasury Secretary instead of the President…any odds on when Geithner will go grey?

If he looked like Scarlett Johansson and his name was still Tim Geithner, we would know he was lying about something.

I actually found a picture of Tim Geithner smiling.

Think of the different connotations of “Timmy” vs. “Tommy.”

His head looks fine. He has a huge forehead presumably because he has a huge brain.
