DNA for work and love

University of Akron demands DNA sample from faculty as condition of employment.

Dating sites use your DNA to find a perfect love match.

Hat tip to my true major histocompatibility complex match.

I’ve taken 3 DNA tests as part of my family history research. The databases are too small yet to yield much useful information, but that will change over the next 10 years or so as more people take them.

One easy way to take a DNA test for deep ancestry is to participate in the National Geographic Genographic project.

Last year I gave 2 tests as a Christmas present to myself, and my daughter and I took them. Very interesting.

Highly recommended and only $100 each. Great Christmas present.

How much would a DNA “background check” cost the University of Akron — as a percent of typical adjunct faculty pay?
