1. The painting that I call "A Rainy Street in Pyongyang" is oddly soothing.

Once more I have to uneasily acknowledge my preference for the art from the most abhorrent dictatorships over that from democracies: for example I really love Chostakovich and dislike Cage. And in the present case, I prefer these North-Korean paintings to anything done by, say, Marcel Duchamp or Basquiat. Has somebody an explanation for that paradox?
Should we threaten our artists with concentration camps?
