Farmers get paid to let pet dogs herd their sheep.
For the pointers I thank Courtney Knapp and Renee DiResta.
Meh, wake up me when there's a "market in" story about a sheep herding dogs… Besides I think I saw this starring Wile E. Coyote on TV when I was a tyke. 😉
my wife and I almost went to do this when we lived in NYC – out at a place in NJ. The issue was that my dog, a Brussels Griffon, is a rugged toy dog, not a herding dog, and my wife didn't feel comfortable calling the farm and asking if it was ok to CHASE the sheep as opposed to HERD the sheep…
The implicit asumption of those usually somewhat aproving but never really said out load asumption is that all this anecodtes somhow proof how governemnts are bad because they dont get such crazy idears that are still for socities benefith because someone pays for them! Imagne the same people when some central planning/engineering type at some government agency has some crazy idear.Nice information.
