A therapist who helps his patients stay in the closet.
As he explained it to me, “The idea that I am helping the client stay in the closet is bizarre to me.”
Relevant to this is a nice essay on religious congruence (with reference to congruence of mental states and behavior in general). http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/j.1468-5906.2009.01489.x/full
Chaves’ point is that congruence is rare and we shouldn’t be surprised at all when it does not occur — whether in religious contexts or in other contexts.
