Such irony,
. However, on the deeper historical notes, one of the banks in Italy in more serious doo doo is the Banca di Monte da Pashi di Siena (sp?), world’s longest continuously operating bank, begun in the 1400s. Their HQ, still in Siena, has a fine art collection dating from the Renaissance whose base consists of objects given as collateral for loans from that period. Some of them are moderately famous paintings that show up in art books, although one cannot just walk in the door to see the collection (connections, my dear Watson, connections).
That would be Banca Montei dei Paschi di Siena. Sorry about the spelling.
