Geeesh, thanks for the fake lead; it’s digitized bits, not “a book”.
Since I don’t own a Kindle, and don’t particularly intend to any time soon, I’m forced to ask how Mr. Lindsay squares the emergence of resources like khanacademy.org and udacity.com with his beliefs about an increasingly wide gap between the know-plentys and the not-so-muchs?
I haven’t read Lindsey’s non-book, but many of the know-not-so-much’s may not have the discipline or desire to sit through even a few minutes of readily accessible Khan Academy. Things like Khan Academy are great for giving opportunities to those with the ability but not the time, resources, or background–but will increase the gap between those with the ability and those without it. Akin to, or perhaps an example of, how leveling the environmental playing field increases the importance of genetic heredity.
