Nick Bostrom, Superintelligence: Paths, Dangers, Strategies.
Due out September 3, 2014, self-recommending.
Or if you want it sooner, you can order it from Amazon UK on July 3rd.
I’ve read the basically-final draft a couple times now. It’s a very nice summary of “the FHI-MIRI consensus on superintelligence,” if there is such a thing at all. If you only read one book on the subject, this should definitely be it.
Rather like the goal system of an AI. Actually the fact that goal systems are “self recommending” is, in a nutshell, the problem.
I read it in another multiverse already … but it may have been slightly different from the one due out in the autumn.
