Interesting, especially since the homicide by gun rate is down but the suicide by gun rate up. Seems like two forms of suicide are up quite a bit. I know that opioid overdoses and abuse is up a lot, but I’ve also known people in tremendous pain who have had a hard time getting them because of a desire to crack down.
I would like to see these trends measured in QALYs lost, rather than unit deaths. I think we would see a different picture, which would suggest altogether different priorities.
