I suppose what we've learned from the financial crisis is that it reinforced biases previously held.

I lost interest in Martin Wolf years ago, when he argued WW II increased living standards.

In the US at least I'd wager the difference between 1946.v.1936 was much more dramatic than 1936.v.1926.
