Now that we have a longer-run perspective, it is worth reexamining the myth of austerity in the UK.  Oh, how people got this one wrong!  They really did think it was just a cyclical story, but now we know better.  Mea culpas will not be forthcoming, I predict.  It is worth revisiting my 2012 post on this topic.  So many people got this so dogmatically so very, very wrong.
