Latin America’s Monopolies.  Are they necessary?  Why?

So asks an MR reader, how loyal he is I cannot say.  No, they are not necessary.  They just aren’t, that’s why.

uhhhh…..Most hilarious post ever nomination? Honestly if the entire point of of the phrase “loyal MR reader” was that post, then it was entirely worth it.

Apparently the questioner has a deficient mental model of Tyler Cowen. It reminds me of an old cartoon where the hero must distinguish between a friend and a nemesis disguised like the friend by questioning them. Fearing a ‘loyalty’ test, I am a little more leery of meeting ‘Tyrone’ now – unless, of course, Tyrone believes Latin American monopolies *are* necessary.
