Latin America’s Monopolies. Are they necessary? Why?

So asks an MR reader, how loyal he is I cannot say. No, they are not necessary. They just aren’t, that’s why.

blink March 17, 2007 at 5:25 pm: Apparently the questioner has a deficient mental model of Tyler Cowen. It reminds me of an old cartoon where the hero must distinguish between a friend and a nemesis disguised like the friend by questioning them. Fearing a ‘loyalty’ test, I am a little more leery of meeting ‘Tyrone’ now – unless, of course, Tyrone believes Latin American monopolies *are* necessary.
