I'm fed up with all these old clichés. Let's have some new clichés. Or perhaps even some observations. A fact for you: middle-class English people generally kiss each other on meeting at a social event - never male-to-male, but male-to-female and female-to-male. In fact it's becoming irritatingly common, especially on occasions like dinner parties. Hand-shaking waxes and wanes but never entirely goes away.
