*The Complacent Class*

Thank you all for making the first day of The Complacent Class such a success; pre-orders were strong and according to one standard metric it was the #1 best-selling book for Monday.

I am working to get you information on Kindle pre-order, as of now the pre-order extra book offer still stands.  I also am told that on UK Amazon you have to search for title, not by my name, for whatever reason.

Give me a Kindle version and I'm there. Just know I won't read a physical version.

Impressive - a one day wonder fueled by a single post. Most likely sweetened by how many of those pre-orders came from this site's Amazon affiliate account.

Considering that TC's 2007 post using a similar offer (highlighted in the original post a few days ago by a reader) apparently failed, and that this time the offer worked comically well, it gives credence to Karl Marx's saying: "History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce". - Karl Marx Read more at: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/k/karlmarx382655.html

On the surface this book seems at odds, rather than in sync with the times. Perhaps it would fit better in a Jeb Bush vs Hillary Clinton world, one where people did stay in the static seeming silos of a few years ago.

Instead we seem on the verge of broad social change. I mean 2020 now seems a big unknown, and that is only 4 years away.

For the sake of Amazon's algorithms, you'd have done a lot better giving your book a boost in the rankings within two or three days of your release. I am an author with over thirty published books, and have been on the bestsellers lists, both print and digital.

From the Amazon blurb: "But, according to Cowen, there are significant collateral downsides attending this comfort, among them heightened inequality and segregation[.]" It's not a downside, it's an upside and half of the whole point.
