Amazing how the reviewer and the paper keep biology as far away as possible, except where it concerns beavers. Identity preserved over centuries? Surely Occam's razor should force us to look at heritability. "To explain dam-building behaviour in beavers we need to look not just at the genes they inherited [...]", indeed...

I'm all for the study of norms in economics, but Akerlof and Kranton's stuff is thoroughly underwhelming. I guess it must be this way to make it palatable for economists, much like with the reduction in spice of foreign foods for North American palates.
